SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- San Diego Chargers All-Pro running back LaDainian Tomlinson practiced for the first time on Friday and is questionable for Monday night's game against the New York Jets.

The 2006 NFL MVP, Tomlinson missed most of Sunday's 39-38 loss to Denver due to a jammed right big toe he suffered in the Chargers' season-opening loss to the Carolina Panthers.

He carried 10 times for just 26 yards against Denver and spent most of the second half on the bench with his shoe off, talking to team trainers.

San Diego's injury report listed Tomlinson as having "limited participation" during Friday's practice.

"It was OK," Tomlinson said. "I did what I wanted to do. I didn't expect to do full participation, but I wanted to get out and do some stuff running the football. It was definitely a lot better than last week, so that's the exciting part about it."

Tomlinson has been getting continual treatment throughout the week, and it seems as though he could play in a game the Chargers (0-2) need to win.

On Thursday, the star running back told the North County Times that trainers are, "Pretty much throwing the whole kitchen sink at it," and that the swelling is going down.

"It's getting better, that's all I can say."

If Tomlinson cannot play, the speedy Darren Sproles will see more playing time. Sproles piled up 317 all-purpose yards on 14 touches, including a 103-yard kickoff return for a touchdown as well as a 66-yard TD reception while subbing for Tomlinson in the loss to Denver.
