NEW YORK (Ticker) -- In his 257th consecutive start, New York Jets quarterback Brett Favre established a career high.
Favre headlined the weekly NFL awards Wednesday, winning the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
Carolina Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme earned the corresponding honor in the NFC.
The respective Defensive Players of the Week honors went to a pair of linebackers named Derrick. The Kansas City Chiefs' Derrick Johnson won the award in the AFC and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Derrick Brooks was feted in the NFC.
The special teams honors were awarded to Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Jeff Reed and Buccaneers kicker Matt Bryant.
Favre, who already holds the mark for most career passing touchdowns with 454, threw six to lead the Jets to a 56-35 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
In tying Joe Namath's team record, Favre surpassed his previous high of five TD passes, which he accomplished three times. It was the first AFC weekly honor for Favre, who is in his first season with the Jets.
Delhomme finished 20-of-29 for 294 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions in a 24-9 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.
Coming back off "Tommy John" surgery last season, Delhomme connected on scoring passes of 56 yards to Steve Smith and 36 yards to Muhsin Muhammad. It is his first career weekly honor.
Johnson was a force in helping the Kansas City Chiefs snap a 12-game regular-season losing streak with a 33-19 victory over the Denver Broncos.
In garnering his first weekly honor, Johnson had seven tackles, one-half sack, an interception and a forced fumble.
Brooks also had an interception and a forced fumble to set up a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 30-21 victory over the Green Bay Packers.
The 10-year veteran's 25th career interception set up one touchdown, and his forced fumble was returned 38 yards for a touchdown by teammate Jermaine Phillips. His sixth career defensive honor marks a franchise high.
Reed kicked three field goals, including a game-winning boot from 46 yards in overtime, to lift the Steelers to a 23-20 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
It was the seventh game-winning field goal for Reed, who has been perfect on all seven attempts this season. He won his third career weekly honor and first since 2004.
Bryant, who played despite the death of his infant son four days earlier, also kicked three field goals in Tampa Bay's win over the Packers.
His third field goal, from 24 yards with 2:26 to play, put the Bucs ahead for good, 23-21. Bryant also connected from 23 and 36 yards in winning his fourth career weekly award.
