Vikings DE Allen sits out practice again

Nov 6, 2008 - 10:34 PM EDEN PRAIRIE, Minnesota (Ticker) -- Vikings defensive end Jared Allen missed practice again Thursday, dimming his chances of playing in Sunday's game against the rival Green Bay Packers.

Allen suffered a shoulder injury in last weekend's 28-21 victory over the Houston Texans. He has two sacks in the contest, raising his season total to seven.

Second-year player Brian Robison, who had 4 1/2 sacks in limited time as a rookie, likely would start in Allen's place.

"He's given us quality snaps here about the last three weeks running," Childress said of Robison. "He's a good football player and we'll play with the guys that are there."

Still, the Vikings will miss the production of Allen, whom they acquired in an offseason trade with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Allen, who led the NFL with 15 1/2 sacks last season, has five sacks in his last three games.
