Bengals place WR Chatman on injured reserve

Nov 19, 2008 - 7:11 PM CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- The Cincinnati Bengals on Wednesday placed wide receiver Antonio Chatman on season-ending injured reserve.

Chatman suffered a cervical injury during the second quarter of last weekend's 13-13 tie against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The incident occurred within 3:11 left in the first half following a reception by Chatman and a hit by Eagles safety Quintin Mikell that forced a fumble. He was taken off the field on a stretcher.

Although Chatman had movement in all his extremities and preliminary X-rays were normal, he was hospitalized overnight for observation Sunday.

In his third season with the Bengals and sixth in the league overall, Chatman had 21 receptions for 194 yards in 10 games. He also returned punts.

To replace Chatman on the roster, Cincinnati signed offensive tackle Dennis Roland from its practice squad.
