Eagles RB Westbrook to sit out practice Monday

Nov 24, 2008 - 7:45 PM PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Philadelphia Eagles running backs Brian Westbrook and Correll Buckhalter will not practice Monday due to injuries suffered in Sunday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

The Eagles host the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday night.

Westbrook, who has been battling knee and ankle injuries for most of the season, has swelling on the knee while Buckhalter has an MCL sprain.

Cornerback Asante Samuel also will sit out Monday's practice with a neck stinger, Eagles coach Andy Reid said.

Injuries have forced Westbrook to miss two games and limited his effectiveness the past four weeks.

After rushing for 167 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-14 win over Atlanta on October 26, Westbrook has managed a total of 186 yards and zero TDs in the past four games.

Buckhalter has a total of 11 carries in the past five games.

Samuel, in his first season with Philadelphia after signing a rich free-agent deal in the offseason, leads the team with three interceptions.
