Browns QB Quinn to visit Dr. Andrews

Nov 25, 2008 - 4:43 PM BEREA, Ohio (Ticker) -- Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn, who played in last week's loss to the Houston Texans with a broke right index finger, will visit with orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews in Alabama on Tuesday for a second opinion.

Browns coach Romeo Crennel said that Quinn also has a damaged tendon in the finger, in addition to the fracture.

"That small fracture is where the tendon is attached," Crennel said. "It's right at the tip, and it makes it tough for him to spin the ball the way he wants to spin it."

Quinn made his third start last week after replacing Derek Anderson, but was benched after throwing his second interception.

Quinn completed only 8-of-18 passes for just 94 yards in the Browns' 16-6 loss to the Texans, and Crennel said the injury contributed to the poor performance.

However, Crennel said Monday that he was sticking with Quinn as his starting quarterback.

"Brady is still the starting quarterback," Crennel said. "I told him last night he had not lost his job. He was disappointed he was taken out; he was frustrated.

"He is the starter. He is the quarterback. He is not on a short leash. If he were on a short leash, I would have told him before game, 'If you throw two interceptions I'm going to take you out.'"
