Light, Crowder fined, but not suspended

Nov 26, 2008 - 9:35 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- New England Patriots offensive tackle Matt Light and Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder were both fined $15,000 on Wednesday for their part in an altercation during Sunday's game.

The NFL did not suspend either player.

Light grabbed Crowder's hair and punched him multiple times in the fourth quarter of the Patriots' 48-28 triumph over the Dolphins.

"I think that matter is kind of a closed deal now," Light said. "It was what it was. Obviously, I'm not happy with what my actions were and I don't think that was the way to go. In my mind, it's a closed deal now."

The incident occurred after Light blocked Crowder on Stephen Gostowski's 30-yard field goal and Crowder's helmet came off. The players exchanged pushes before the tussle ignited.

Both Light and Crowder received personal fouls on the play and were ejected.
