Browns QB Quinn done for season

Nov 27, 2008 - 2:07 AM BEREA, Ohio (Ticker) -- The quarterback controversy in Cleveland is over - for now.

Quarterback Brady Quinn will miss the rest of the season with a broken right index finger. He was placed on the reserve-injured list on Wednesday.

Quinn suffered the injury in a 29-27 win over Buffalo on November 17. The former Notre Dame star was was able to make a third straight start in place of the ineffective Derek Anderson in a 16-6 loss to Houston last weekend, but was benched after throwing his second interception.

"Brady is going to need time or surgery for his finger to heal," Crennel said. "Brady will make a determination in the near future whether he'll take the time or have surgery to heal the finger. He wants to play. But for his career, he has to get it healed."

Anderson will take back the starting job by default, but Crennel said that Quinn is still his quarterback when he returns.

"I had planned for Brady to be the quarterback," he said. "When he comes back, he will be the quarterback."

The 22nd pick of the 2007 draft, Quinn completed only 8-of-18 passes for just 94 yards during last week's loss and the injury likely contributed to the poor performance.

Quinn completed 48-of-97 passes for 563 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions in three starts. Meanwhile, Anderson has completed 126-of-257 passes for 1505 yards and nine scores with eight interceptions in nine starts.

Cleveland signed tight end Jed Collins to take Quinn's place on the roster.
