Steelers re-sign RB Davenport
Nov 27, 2008 - 6:38 PM PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- Najeh Davenport is back with the Pittsburgh Steelers.The Steelers on Thursday re-signed Davenport after releasing the veteran running back following Week Nine.
Davenport played in four games earlier this year after joining the Steelers in early October and rushed for five yards on two carries.
In two-plus seasons with the Steelers, Davenport has 768 yards and seven touchdowns on 177 carries . He also caught 33 passes for 394 yards and three scores.
In a corresponding move, the Steelers released rookie cornerback Roy Lewis, who played in one game this year after spending the first nine weeks on the team's practice squad.
