Blue Jackets, D Brookbank agree to terms
Jul 1, 2007 - 11:40 PM COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired their first free agent Sunday, agreeing to terms with defenseman Sheldon Brookbank on a one-year contract.Financial terms were not disclosed.
Brookbank made his NHL debut with Nashville last season, recording one assist and 12 penalty minutes in three games with the Predators. The 26-year-old spent the majority of the campaign in the American Hockey League with Milwaukee, where he won the Eddie Shore Award as the league's Outstanding Defenseman.
The captain of the Admirals, Brookbank scored a career-high 15 goals and led all AHL defensemen with 53 points.
