Hurricanes G Ward leaves game
Dec 1, 2008 - 4:03 AM RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward left Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks after one period with an undisclosed lower-body injury.The 2006 Conn Smythe Trophy winner, Ward stopped 12 of 13 shots before departing at the start of the second session. Ward was replaced by Michael Leighton, who stopped 11 shots.
Hurricanes coach Peter Laviolette said he removed Ward for precautionary reasons.
