Owen 'happy' to be at Newcastle
Jul 12, 2007 - 7:17 AM LONDON (Ticker) -- England striker Michael Owen insists he is committed to Newcastle and is determined to produce his best for the club next season.Owen has endured two injury-ravaged seasons since joining the club from Real Madrid and there have been rumours linking him with a move elsewhere.
But the 27-year-old is keen to play under new boss Sam Allardyce and believes the club has a bright future.
"I believe that these can be good times to be at Newcastle, which is why I am more than happy to be here," Owen wrote in his column in The Times. "There has been plenty of speculation about my future, but I can assure the Newcastle fans that I didn't start any of it.
"There was a lot of talk from other quarters and my attitude to rumor has always been to ignore it. I prefer to let my actions speak for themselves and I just wish there had been more opportunities to show the Newcastle fans what I am capable of. I am sure that is to come this season."
