Amauri scores as Juventus tops Torino

Oct 25, 2008 - 10:18 PM Juventus breathed new life into their season by beating city rivals Torino, 1-0, on Saturday.

A goal from Amauri after 48 minutes decided the 224th Turin derby at the Stadio Olimpico.

After beating Real Madrid in the Champions League four days ago, coach Claudio Ranieri's position became a little safer. But the same cannot be said for Granata boss Gianni De Biasi, whose side suffered their fifth defeat of the season.

High-flying Catania needed a penalty 11 minutes from time to snatch a 1-1 draw at Siena, who continued to prove a tough side to crack on their home ground.

Going into the game, Marco Giampaolo's side had collected seven of their eight points at home.

And they looked set to add another three to that haul when Emanuele Calaio headed his side in front with 15 minutes remaining.

But with 79 minutes on the clock, Michele Paolucci was brought down in the Siena area, and Giuseppe Mascara stepped up to score the first goal for an opposition side at the Stadio Artemio Franchi this season.
