Cordoba lifts Internazionale to triumph
Nov 1, 2008 - 11:12 PM By PA SportsTickerIvan Cordoba's late strike earned Internazionale a 3-2 win on Saturday and sent it back to the top of the Serie A after basement side Reggina had threatened a shock comeback at the Stadio Oreste Granillo.
The visitors had established a two-goal lead with first-half strikes from Sisenado Maicon and Patrick Vieira.
But Reggina hit back with strikes from Francesco Cozza and Franco Brienza either side of halftime to heighten the prospect of an upset.
However, Cordoba scored in stoppage time to spare Inter's blushes and allow them to take a one-point lead over Udinese and Napoli, which both play on Sunday.
In Saturday's other match, Alessandro Del Piero inspired Juventus to a 2-0 victory over Roma, lifting the Bianconeri to fifth and leaving its opponents struggling just above the bottom three.
The Italy striker scored a stunning free kick in the 38th minute before providing the second goal for Marco Marchionni three minutes into the second half.
That was enough to make it four wins in a row for Claudio Ranieri's side, while Roma are reeling on the back of five successive defeats.
