Feyenoord gets first win for Verbeek
Nov 2, 2008 - 5:54 PM By PA SportsTickerFeyenoord won just its second game of the season Sunday, claiming a 4-0 triumph at Roda JC and easing the pressure on coach Gertjan Verbeek.
Calls for Verbeek to resign intensified following a midweek defeat to Rotterdam rivals Sparta, but his side was much too strong for the Kerkrade-based hosts.
Feyenoord did all of its damage in the second half, getting goals from Georgino Wijnaldum, Leroy Fer, Roy Makaay and Diego Biseswar.
FC Volendam registered its first victory in battle of struggling teams, beating De Graafschap by a 3-1 count.
FC Utrecht beat Heracles, 2-0, and NEC Nijmegen moved up to seventh with a 2-0 victory at Sparta.
Vitesse Arnhem, meanwhile, pulled clear of the relegation spots with a 3-1 defeat of ADO Den Haag.
No one has shouted yet.
