United F Moreno undergoes surgery
Nov 6, 2008 - 11:01 PM WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- D.C. United forward Jaime Moreno on Wednesday underwent successful knee surgery, the team announced Thursday. The arthroscopic procedure on Moreno was performed at Virginia Hospital Center by team physician Dr. Chris Annunziata, who cleaned the articular cartilage in the knee and removed a meniscal defect. Moreno is expected to be ready for the 2009 preseason.
Major League Soccer's all-time leading goal-scorer with 122, Moreno is one assist away from reaching the century mark and becoming the league's first player to notch both 100 tallies and 100 assists. This past season, the team captain recorded 10 goals and 10 assists, marking the fourth time he has reached double digits in both categories during his career.
Jason Kreis is the only player to accomplish the feat on four occasions, while no other player has done it twice.
No one has shouted yet.
