Barcelona plays to draw with Getage
Nov 24, 2008 - 12:16 AM By PA SportsTickerBarcelona saw its lead cut to three points at the top of the Primera Liga and its nine-match winning streak come to an end following a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Getafe on Sunday.
Pep Guardiola's side has been virtually unplayable in the league at the Nou Camp this season, racking up 17 goals and conceding just one in its last three Primera Liga matches at home.
But it was frustrated by a stubborn Getafe side, which took the lead through Manu Del Moral after 19 minutes.
The Catalans eventually equalized through Seydou Keita after 71 minutes, but was unable to secure a 10th straight league win despite its late pressure, and it now leads the Primera Liga by just two points from bitter rivals Real Madrid.
Deportivo La Coruna survived a late scare to beat Athletic Bilbao in a highly entertaining game at the Riazor.
First-half goals from Ze Castro and Joan Verdu put the Galicians firmly in control as they threatened to run riot against Paco Chaparro's men but a Javi Martinez header midway through the second half gave the visitors hope until Andres Guardado's injury-time goal eventually settled matters.
The Basques will also be rueing a missed penalty before the interval as the result leaves them rooted inside the bottom three, while Depor move up three places into seventh.
Real Mallorca were left wondering how it failed to defeat Malaga as they had to come from behind to earn a point despite dominating the game for long periods.
The visitors were ahead when Ivan Ramis put the ball into his own net in the 12th minute, and although Cheli quickly equalized, Malaga went 2-1 ahead through Nabil Baha's 24th-minute strike.
Mallorca kept knocking on the door, but it was not until the 66th minute that Pierre Webo finally found an equaliser.
Elsewhere, Atletico Madrid drew 1-1 at Numancia - former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan scoring their goal - Osasuna beat Almeria 3-1, Racing Santander won 3-0 at home to Espanyol and Real Betis won 2-1 away to Sporting Gijon.
