Sounders select F Jaqua in expansion draft
Nov 26, 2008 - 8:02 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) - Houston Dynamo forward Nate Jaqua was the top selection of Wednesday's MLS expansion draft for the Seattle Sounders FC.The league's 15th team, Seattle selected 10 players to continue constructing their roster for the 2009 season.
The Sounders selected one player each from 10 of the 14 MLS teams. The four teams with no players selected were the Colorado Rapids, Chivas USA, D.C. United and FC Dallas.
Each of the 14 teams was allowed to protect 11 players. Seattle's 10 selections will officially be added to its roster, which already includes Sebastien Le Toux, Kasey Keller, Freddie Ljungberg and Sanna Nyassi.
Also selected by the Sounders were Nathan Sturgis (Real Salt Lake), Jeff Parke (New York Red Bulls), Jarrod Smith (Toronto FC), Khano Smith (New England Revolution), Peter Vagenas (Los Angeles Galaxy), Tyson Wahl (Kansas City Wizards), James Riley (San Jose Earthquakes), Stephen King (Chicago Fire) and Brad Evans (Columbus Crew).
