Sun sign G Whalen to three-year deal
Feb 20, 2008 - 1:01 AM UNCASVILLE, Connecticut (Ticker) -- The Connecticut Sun signed guard Lindsay Whalen to a three-year contract on Tuesday.Financial terms were not disclosed.
Whalen, 25, enjoyed a career year in 2007 as she averaged 13.4 points and led the WNBA in total assists with 169. The fourth-overall pick of the 2004 draft, Whalen set a franchise record with 13 field goals en route to a career-high 33 points against Detroit on June 24.
The Sun also announced the signing of point guard Jamie Carey to a training camp contract on Tuesday. Carey, who led the league by hitting 45 percent of her 3-point attempts, returns for her fourth season.
Connecticut opens its season on May 17 when it hosts the Atlanta Dream.
