Sun ink F Gruda to three-year deal
Mar 8, 2008 - 1:53 AM UNCASVILLE, Connecticut (Ticker) -- The Connecticut Sun signed rookie forward Sandrine Gruda to a three-year contract, the club announced on Friday.Terms of the deal were not released.
"We're really looking forward to having Sandrine in camp," Sun general manager Chris Sienko said. "She is one of the top post players in Europe, and we expect her to play a vital role in our frontcourt this season."
Drafted 13th overall by the Sun in 2007, the 20-year-old Gruda decided to remain in France last summer to play for the national team.
Gruda, whose a two-time French League MVP and FIBA Young Women's Player of the Year, averaged 14.0 points in UMMC Ekaterinburg's lineup which has several WNBA players, including new teammate Asjha Jones.
