Sun's Thibault signs extension
May 14, 2008 - 10:41 PM UNCASVILLE, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Mike Thibault, the only coach in the history of the Connecticut Sun, on Wednesday signed a contract extension through the 2009 season with a club option for 2010.Taking over after the team relocated from Orlando in 2003, Thibault has guided the Sun to five straight playoff appearances, including trips to the WNBA Finals in 2004 and 2005.
Connecticut is 106-64 in the regular season under Thibault - the league's best mark during that span.
"We believe strongly in the philosophy of Mike and his coaching staff," Sun general manager Chris Sienko said. "They have been together since 2003, and I think the players who have worn the Sun uniform have benefitted from their knowledge."
The Sun also extended the contract of assistant coaches Scott Hawk and Bernadette Mattox through 2009 with the same option for 2010.
