Mystics name Plank coach
Nov 6, 2008 - 7:36 PM WASHINGTON (Ticker) - The Washington Mystics on Thursday named Julie Plank coach.Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Plank, who brings more than 20 years of coaching experience to the Mystics, spent the 2008 season as an assistant coach with the Minnesota Lynx.
"Julie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Washington Mystics organization," Mystics general manager Angela Taylor said. "Her extensive resume includes coaching elite players at the highest levels of women's basketball during her 20 plus years as an assistant coach.
"Respected by her peers as being an excellent player developer, she is a phenomenal teacher of the game who brings an intensity, strong work ethic, and winning attitude to this organization. Julie's passion and commitment to excellence will be evident as we continue to lay the groundwork for building a championship organization."
Prior to joining the Lynx, Plank spent eight years with the Indiana Fever as an assistant coach and the team's director of scouting.
