ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- Albert Pujols and the St. Louis Cardinals try to rebound from Friday's 2-1 loss when they take on the Chicago Cubs in the second game of the four-game set at Busch Stadium on Saturday.
Pujols hit his 300th career home run Friday night against Cubs reliever Bob Howry, becoming the fifth-youngest player to reach the milestone.
However, it was the only run the Cardinals scored against the Cubs, who scratched out two against Braden Looper in his seven innings pitched. Carlos Zambrano threw six shutout innings in his first start since returning from the disabled list with a strained shoulder.
Ted Lilly (9-5, 4.56 ERA) will take the mound for Chicago, while St. Louis counters with Kyle Lohse (10-2, 3.67).
Lilly is coming off an eight-inning gem against the San Francisco Giants in which he allowed two runs and seven hits.
Lohse will look to build on his last start, where he threw seven innings and surrendered just one unearned run to the New York Mets on Monday.
On Friday, Kosuke Fukudome snapped a 4-for-25 skid with his first homer since June 24 and Geovany Soto became the first Cubs rookie to hit 14 home runs since Rafael Palmeiro also hit 14 in 1987.
