PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Interleague play couldn't have ended fast enough for the Philadelphia Phillies.
The National League East Division leaders were 3-9 against the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Angels, Oakland Athletics and Texas Rangers, but it seems they have found their winning touch again while facing NL foes.
The Phillies hope to continue their positive stretch in the second game of a four-game series against the New York Mets on Saturday.
After sweeping the three-game series against the Atlanta Braves earlier this week, Philadelphia rallied for a 3-2 win in Friday's series opener. Shane Victorino delivered the game-winning single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning.
John Maine (8-6, 3.86) will take the mound for the Mets, who are 8-9 since Jerry Manuel replaced Willie Randolph as manager.
The righthander was tagged for five runs - three earned - and seven hits in four innings of a 7-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday.
Jamie Moyer (7-6, 4.13) will take the mound for the Phillies with hopes of rebounding from a 5-1 loss to the Rangers on Sunday, where he allowed three runs, seven hits and four walks in 5 2/3 innings.
Phillies slugger Ryan Howard extended his hitting streak to seven games on Friday, going 2-for-4 with an RBI single.
For the Mets, Carlos Beltran is mired in a 2-for-24 slump.
