Heat sign G-F Jones
Jul 9, 2008 - 6:52 PM MIAMI (Ticker) -- The Miami Heat added an outside shooter Wednesday, signing free-agent swingman James Jones.Terms were not disclosed, but multiple reports say Jones signed a five-year deal which could be worth more than $23 million.
Jones, who played collegiately at Miami, spent last season with the Portland Trail Blazers, averaging 8.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in 58 games. He also shot 44.4 percent from 3-point range to rank third in the league in that category.
In 290 career games with Indiana, Phoenix and Portland, the 6-8 Jones has averaged 7.0 points and 2.6 rebounds.
