SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- Mario Chalmers hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Miami Heat a 96-93 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Friday in the preseason finale for both teams.
Chalmers scored all 11 of his points in the final period, including three 3-pointers. He added 10 assists and four steals.
Fellow rookie Michael Beasley led all scorers with 19 points and nine rebounds.
The Spurs started the fourth quarter on a 9-2 run that gave them the lead. Roger Mason knocked down a 3-pointer, and Matt Bonner scored on a layup to net the Spurs a 75-74 edge with 10:28 left.
The teams exchanged leads before Chalmers hit two 3-pointers in less than a minute to give Miami an 84-80 lead with 6:10 left.
With the game knotted at 88-88 with 1:41 left, Shawn Marion hit two free throws that gave Miami the lead. Udonis Haslem, who had 18 points, then hit a layup for a four-point edge.
Mason drilled a 3-pointer for the Spurs to cut the gap to 92-91 with 25 seconds left. After being fouled, Beasley hit one of two free throws. Mason dropped in a layup that tied the game at 93-93, setting up Chalmers' shot.
Daequan Cook added 17 for Miami, including 4-for-6 from behind the arc.
The Heat were without Dwyane Wade, who rested after playing 26 minutes Thursday against New Orleans.
Tony Parker led the Spurs with 16 points and six assists.
Both teams start their regular season on Wednesday, with Miami playing at New York and San Antonio at home against Phoenix.
