Blazers G Roy sits out; C Oden plays on Tuesday

Dec 31, 2008 - 6:23 AM PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) - While Portland Trail Blazers leading scorer Brandon Roy did not play in Tuesday's 91-86 victory over the Boston Celtics, rookie center Greg Oden was able to go.

Roy strained his right hamstring late in Saturday's 102-89 victory over Toronto, while Oden injured his left ankle in practice Monday.

Leading the team with 23.0 points per game, Roy saw limited action in practice Monday and was listed as questionable before sitting out.

Oden, who also was listed as questionable, had 13 points and 11 rebounds in 36 minutes despite the injury.

Oden, who had one of his better games Saturday with 16 points and 10 rebounds, did get some good news regarding his ankle as X-rays came back negative.

Months after being selected by Portland with the top overall pick in the 2007 draft, Oden underwent microfracture knee surgery and missed the entire season.

The 7-footer is averaging 8.1 points and 7.4 rebounds this season.
