Blazers G Roy out 7-10 days
Jan 4, 2009 - 1:06 AM PORTLAND (Ticker) -- Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy will miss seven to 10 days with a sprained right hamstring, the Oregonian reported on Saturday.Roy has missed the past two games due to the injury.
The 2007 Rookie of the Year, Roy did not travel with the team to Los Angeles for its Sunday matchup against the Lakers and likely will miss at least three more games because of his ailment.
According to the paper, Roy missed Saturday's practice and was unavailable for comment because he was having a precautionary MRI on his surgically repaired left knee. The results of the test showed no significant changes.
The sixth pick of the 2006 draft, Roy is averaging 23.0 points, 5.3 assists and 4.5 rebounds in 31 games.
Rookie Rudy Fernandez scored 19 points in place of Roy during Friday's 92-77 loss to New Orleans and likely will be called on to pick up the slack.
