Pistons G Stuckey, Timberwolves F Jefferson honored

Jan 5, 2009 - 8:56 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Detroit Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey and Minnesota Timberwolves forward Al Jefferson were named Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, on Monday.

A second-year pro from Eastern Michigan, Stuckey averaged 23.0 points, 5.3 assists and 4.5 rebounds in leading the Pistons to a 4-0 mark last week, and a season-high seven-game winning streak.

The highlight of Stuckey's week was a 38-point, seven assist, four-rebound performance in a 98-92 win over Sacramento on Friday.

Jefferson helped the Timberwolves to a 3-1 mark by averaging 27.3 points, 12.3 rebounds. The five-year veteran collected 32 points and 10 rebounds in a 115-108 win over Golden State on Friday.

Other nominees for the awards were, Atlanta's Josh Smith, Boston's Paul Pierce, Charlotte's Boris Diaw, Cleveland forward LeBron James, Dallas forward Josh Howard, Denver's Nene, Indiana's Jarrett Jack, Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, Miami's Dwyane Wade, New York's Wilson Chandler, Phoenix's Shaquille O'Neal, San Antonio's Tony Parker and Washington's Antawn Jamison.
