Texas A&M seeks to move into first-place tie in Big 12

Feb 28, 2007 - 2:36 PM No. 6 Texas A&M (24-4) at No. 15 Texas (21-7) 9:00 pm EST

AUSTIN, Texas (Ticker) -- No. 6 Texas A&M can move back into a tie for first place in the Big 12 Conference with a win over rival Texas on Wednesday night.

Texas A&M (24-4, 12-2 Big 12) slipped out of a first-place tie in the conference when Kansas beat Oklahoma on Monday.

The Aggies have won three in a row, including a 97-87 victory over Baylor on Saturday. Acie Law IV scored 31 points to lead Texas A&M.

No. 15 Texas (21-7, 11-3) has won five in a row since a 100-82 loss to the Aggies on February 5. Star freshman Kevin Durant scored 28 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, but it was not enough to overcome the 21 points and 15 assists by Law.

The Longhorns have been dominating opponents since that loss, winning their last five games by an average of 15.6 points.
