LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- Coming off a loss in the final of the CBE Classic, 23rd-ranked Kansas will look to return to its winning ways when they it takes on Coppin State Friday.
The Jayhawks held a lead over Syracuse for most of the game Tuesday, but a 3-pointer by Jonny Flynn tied the contest with nine seconds left and the Orange went to win, 89-81, in overtime.
Sherron Collins led Kansas with 21 points but knocked down just 8-of-22 from the field, including 3-of-9 from 3-point range.
The Jayhawks led by 11 at halftime and were overmatched in overtime when they were outscored, 17-9.
Cole Aldrich added a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds while Marcus Morris added 11 and 11 in a rematch of the 2003 national championship.
The matchup with the Jayhawks is the second straight against a ranked opponent for the Eagles, who lost, 66-46, to 10th-ranked Purdue.
Tywain McKee was the only starter in double figures, scoring 17 points. Vince Goldsberry added 11 off the bench as the Eagles shot just 30 percent (18-60).
