Hawaii (3-3) at (16) Boise State (5-0), 8:00 pm EDT

BOISE, Idaho (Ticker) -- Boise State is back in the driver's seat to regain the Western Athletic Conference title.

The 16th-ranked Broncos return to conference play Friday night when they host Hawaii - the team that ended their five-year reign atop the WAC last season.

The Warriors denied Boise State a sixth straight conference crown with a memorable 39-27 victory in Hawaii last year.

It was the game in which Colt Brennan threw five touchdowns to break the NCAA career record previously held by Ty Detmer. Hawaii completed a 12-0 regular season and claimed its first outright WAC championship.

A year later, the Warriors are in a rebuilding mode, but they can still be dangerous.

Two weeks ago, Hawaii took advantage of six turnovers to upset Fresno State, the preseason WAC favorite, 32-29, in overtime.

Last week, the Warriors (3-3, 2-1 WAC) defeated Louisiana Tech, 24-14, to climb back to .500. Inoke Funaki passed for two touchdowns and a career-high 224 yards.

Boise State (5-0, 1-0 WAC) still features a potent offense, but the Broncos also have been winning behind stellar defense - something that was not the case in previous campaigns.

Last week's 24-7 win at Southern Methodist marked the fourth time this season that Boise State has held an opponent to single figures.

Redshirt freshman Kellen Moore continued to play like a veteran, throwing three touchdown passes - all in the first half. In his first five starts, Moore has been intercepted only twice.
